Rhonda Georgieff RE: Barcode Labeling policies and procedures

I work for a seven hospital system that is getting ready to venture into
bedside barcoding for all our hospitals. With the different packaging
options out there and the various sizes of our hospitals, there is
concern over keeping uniformity with the barcode label for a particular
drug entity from facility to facility, especially if different generics
are being used from time to time. Has anyone been successful at using a
single database for multi-hospital sites to maintain barcode labeling
information and/or does anyone have a policy out there regarding your
facility's labeling requirements for barcode packaging that you have
been able to successfully enforce?
