The National Patient Safety Foundation is now seeking nominations for the second annual Socius Award and Chairman's Medal. These awards will be presented during the NPSF Patient Safety Congress, May 3-4, 2007 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington DC. Deadline for submissions is Friday, March 16, 2007.
Chairman's Medal
The Chairman's Medal recognizes the outstanding achievements of emerging leaders in the patient safety field. Last year's inaugural winners were Suzanne Graham, RN, PhD and Doug Bonacum, MBA of Kaiser Permanente. Nominees for the 2007 Chairman's Medal should have demonstrated leadership ability by putting forth innovative ideas and approaches to patient safety in order to create positive change and measurable improvement. To be considered, a 500 to 1,000 word essay must be submitted no later than Friday, March 16, 2007. To download a copy of the Chairman's Medal application please click here.
Socius Award
The Socius Award is given in recognition of work that promotes positive and effective partnering between patients/families and providers in pursuit of improved patient safety. Last year's inaugural winner was Linda Kenney of MITSS. Nominees for the 2007 Socius Award should have established an effective, successful and collaborative patient safety initiative or project that exhibits effective partnering between patients/families and providers.
